From memory, Smith states that the "Walk to Paradise Garden" was the first
roll of film he shot after recovering from his injuries during WWII.  And
yes, he did set up the shot and shot it many different ways.

Again, fuzzy memories by Smith was trying to come to terms with the horrors
he saw and recorded in the South Pacific.  Were the images of maggot ridden
children not his?
