A look at Rogliatti "Leica, the First Fifty Years" shows a later 1(b) (compur shutter) with a rectanguar shoe along with a 1(c) (interchangable lens) with a round shoe, and one with a rectangular shoe. It looks like the change happened about 1939, but that doesn't explain the C model with the round shoe. Maybe it was a conversion.
