I think that the proper reference would be Erwin Puts book on Leica lenses.
Or see his web site: http://www.imx.nl/photosite/leica/leicahome.html

Sharpest is probably the wrong question. The DR Summicron is probably the
sharpest but at a contrast level that makes a mockery of lp testing. The
better question is what are you going to want. If you want no DOF then
either the Noctilux or the 75 Summilux are your ticket. If you want
pleasing portraits for your age challenged female family members then the
Summar or Summarit near wide open are just the ticket. If really crisp
rendition of fine detail at the plane of focus at large apertures is your
ticket then look at the Cosina Nokton(OOF is especially poor), or the R
Summilux. Should you shoot in the middle apertures then the current
Summicron is hard to beat for a combination of fine detail and very smooth
transition to OOF.

Lenses are a very personal choice for commercial and artistic purposes. It
is fortunate that in the Leica world, your choices are unusually large.
