We were a party of four, returning to the U.S. after visiting five Canadian provinces. The border post was the one just north of Acadia National Park in Maine. We were two husband and wife pairs. The driver, the other guy's wife had her purse snatched in Montreal, losing her credit cards, her driver's license, and her passport. All she had as remaining documentation was the police report of the incident, a report that was written in French. We were quite apprehensive about what would happen when we hit the U.S. border. To our surprise, the border guard looked at the other three passports, heard the story, glanced very briefly at the police report, and waved us through. Didn't even inspect the liquor our driver's husband said that he had bought in Canada. - -- Herbert Kanner kanner@acm.org 650-326-8204 Do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are subtle and will pee on your computer! - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
