Ralph is sitting next to me. Ralph E. is a very interesting man to talk to. Former member of The swinging blue jeans (formerly genes), he was playing at the Cavern in '61 or so. Ralph knows all these stories/anecdotes related to british amateur musicians with silly insect names begging for work at the venue...fascinating, like when this guy named John...aw never mind it s off topic. In any case, Ralph is due on stage for a brief 4 songs stint (You re no good, Hippy Hippy Shake among others) and is a bit nervous. Tonight he will be accompanied by a local band called The Beatmakers who has an interesting '58 to '62 or so repertoire. The band does well tonight, about 150 persons enjoy the concert. Near the end, Pierre, guitar player, introduces the special guest. Ralph gets a nice ovation and performs very well to the pleasure of all. Now my duty is to record these images for the band. The lighting is terrible, flare city as there are spots behing the stage pointing at the crowd, sometimes...strong reflections from the musical instruments...follow spots... The old M5 behaved perfectly, underexposed by 1 or 2 stops, photos turned out to be very nice. The band loved them. The point of all this is that this 35 mm Summilux ASPH is one superb performer. Flare control was a must here and the lens delivered. If you do much available light work with strong light sources, get a Summilux. Photos to be posted eventually. Best, Robert (Un chevalier sans blason) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
