Yep it needs a CLA. The vulcanite depends on how badly it's flaking. If
pieces are always coming off, or a lot is missing,  you can buy the M6
covering material from Leica. A good search of the archives should turn up
posts from people using the Leica materials.

I think there are other sources of covering materials but don't have any
links.

If it's a small flake and not spreading it can be repaired. Don Goldberg
does these repairs along with doing CLAs. I don't know if Sherry Krauter
repairs the vulcanite but she does CLAs. Two of the best in the business.
If you send it to them send the lens too. Cleaning the internal elements
will help a lot, unless the front element is covered with cleaning marks.
