The newspaper referred to crime statistics for the year 2000 released by the Federal Office of Criminology. It reports that approx.6.3 million criminal acts were reported - 0.6% less than in 1999. I will feel much safer on my next trip to Berlin. I have every hope that out of the 6 million crimes yearly, I will be unaffected.
