Dear Leica friends,

Today we would like to inform you about:

__Narelle Autio wins Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2002
__Kai Wiedenhoefer wins Leica Medal of Excellence 2002

__New: LEICA PINMASTER

The LEICA PINMASTER is a laser-assisted rangefinder
especially designed for golfing. Distances on the golf
course - for example from the flagstick, ground marks or
obstacles - can be precisely measured with the LEICA
PINMASTER, helping the player to choose the right club
and giving him an idea of his driving range. The compact
and handy golfing accessory is also helpful for getting a
quick overview of unfamiliar courses.

__Narelle Autio wins Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2002

Australian photogapher Narelle Autio has won the Leica
Oskar Barnack Award 2002 for her photo series “The
Coastal Dwellers” - over- and underwater shots of the
Australian coast. The winner receives € 5,000 prize money
or a Leica camera of the same value plus the trip to the
award presentation ceremony in Arles. The closing date for
next year's competition is January 31st, 2003. The Leica
Oskar Barnack Competition was first held in 1979 to mark
the 100th birthday of the inventor of the first successful
35mm camera, the 'Leica I'. The prize is awarded by Leica
Camera AG in cooperation with the organisation committee
of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie, Arles
(France). The aim is to promote modern photojournalism,
the evolution of which is closely linked to the revolution of
photography with the handy 35mm camera.
