There isn't much ROM will do for you. 3-cam lenses and 3rd-cam lenses will work fine on the R8. The only thing you are certain to lose is automatic flash head zooming. Leica has mentioned increased exposure accuracy in some metering modes with ROM, taking the lens' light fall-off at full aperture into consieration, but in practice this benefit is minimal at best. There are a few lenses which cannot be ROMmed. One I know of is the 90mm Summicron-R.
