Logan,

I have a Domke vest I bought several years ago. I've been struggling with
this problem of how to carry my equipment without being totally weighted
down by it. I travel a lot in the jungle in Central America and the heat
and weight combination can be deadly. I found that my Domke, much as I
liked it, made me feel 100 lbs. heavier (and I'm already heavy enough,
thank you). In a more temperate climate, it's not as bad. This year, I
tried Lowepro's new modular belt kit. I think it can be made to be OK.
However, the problem I had was that it kept slipping off my waste and
became decidedly inconvenient to wear. The solution, I think, is a
suspender-like strap (which also allows for additional hanging modules. My
camera dealer originally recommended against it because he thought it would
redistribute the weight to my shoulders which I was trying to avoid.
Still, that's preferable to feeling always like your pants are slipping
off. Anyway, I think I'll try the suspender on my Lowepro on my next trip.
OH, one thing that's nice about the Lowepro is that because it's modular,
you can easily leave equipment you are not going to use in your hotel room.

Don't know if this helps at all. Just thought I'd relate some of my
experiences.

Cheers,

Brian
