He did the documentary/art thing and I shot weddings :-/ He's been a Leica fan from the beginning. I bought his Nikon SP with a 35/1.8 W-Nikkor that I still remember fondly. He's a hell of a good photographer, and from our recent exchanges, he's apparently mellowed with age... My wife was a custom colour printer at a London lab at the time (that's how we met) and she did a lot of Ian's printing. She remembers him as a guy with a great eye who didn't know shit from shinola about colour printing :-) He sure knows his way around a Focomat, though. I always envied his work, and if I had been a little less youthfully pigheaded back then I'd have emulated it even more than I did.
