GF will certainly save you disk space, but images at 1200 DPI will give you great results on many printers if 8X10 (or 8.5x11) is as big as you want to go without using GF. I've printed lots of images this size from 35mm negs and chromes scanned at 2400 DPI without GF. Sure the file sizes are pretty big, but disk space is cheap these days, and options abound for storing images on CD, DVD, tape, etc. For the price of GF you could buy close to a 100Gig HD, so the financial impact of the disk space savings really only matters if you want to store quite a few images on your HD. Using an option like a R/W CD burner will let you store lots of files offline if you aren't printing everyday. I would only suggest GF if you want to go larger than 8.5x11. I bought it because I am printing up to 16x20 where TIFF files can easily run up to 2Gig for one file. When you get that big you either use GF or buy LOTS of memory and keep lots of disk space free. Hope this helps. DJ - --- Joe Stephens <joe@atchou.com> wrote: > > I have seen Genuine Fractals mentioned here > numerous times.
