Subject: [Leica] Question about the use of Genuine Fractals (and recommend printers)

I have seen Genuine Fractals mentioned here
numerous times. I've been to their website,
and I want to see if I have a concept of what
this plug-in does. I usually don't print
very much on computer printers, but am thinking
of taking the plunge and getting an Epson 1280.

Let's say I have a 2 meg JPG, like, maybe
1500 x 2200 pixels -

Pretty big, maybe OK for an 8x10, but I think
it might be pixelated somewhat.

Does Genuine Fractals "depixelate" the image, or
sort of "vectorize" the image, so it looks
smooth when printed?

What is confusing to me is that they talk about
making an 18 meg image a "54 meg" image. Does
the software "add pixels" to beef up the image
in some sort of interpretive way?

Also, do people like the Epson 1280 as the most
bang for the buck and the fewest ink hassles?

I'm toying with getting one, but it might be
cheaper and higher quality to just order enlargements.

Thanks!
