The sloppiness of the ring does seem at odds with the quality feel of the other lenses that I have. I also picked up a 24mm f/2.8 ASPH. The clip on lens shade feels loose when it is on the lens whereas the shade on my 35mm ASPH is tight. I presume that with tight tolerances a millimetre here or there can make quite a difference to the feel of a lens. I, like you, feel that the aperture ring on the 135 could accidentally move.
