Subject: [Leica] Are screw Leicas usable?

Hi

I'm thinking about getting a 35mm camera (I normally only use 5x4"
and 10x8"). I think an M6 would suit me fine, but I can't justify the
expense at present. I'm wondering if a screw-mount Leica would be
usable. I saw one today (I can't remember the model, but I think it was
a II or III of some sort! - and don't ask me what lens it had!). I haven't a
clue about the history and heritage of these cameras, but would like to
know if they're worth looking into. I would be shooting mainly
landscapes etc on slide film, (thinking about some stock shots), and
would probably use a tripod for most serious shots. I can probably live
with the quirks and lack of automation.

I'd appreciate some advice.

David
