[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Felix, You have a lot of choices. There is the Leica one for different thread sizes. It's great but it costs an arm and a leg of course (?190). It swings around over the viewfinder and makes it easy to translate the settings. There is also the B+W Kasemann types (?70ish), or you can buy one like the Heliopan Linear type I use (not for TTL metering, I use an external spot meter and apply the filter factor manually, go for the Circular if you want to use your M6 TTL/M7 Meter). It's cheap, around ?20.00 good Schott quality glass, and it has index marks around the periphery. Some people carry two of these. One to use to eyeball the scene the other to keep on the camera. Then just transferring the settings. I just use one. After installing on the lens the first time, I mark the top of the filter ring with a little liquid paper. When I use it, I hold this to my eye keeping the index mark to the the top, set the polarisor. Install back on the lens and make sure I have the same setting, then snap away. I really don't use it very often though I must say - as you can tell by the procedure, it's not a grab shot thing <G> lol. Carrying two is a MUCH better idea, or buying the Leica unit if you use one frequently enough and have a variety of lenses. Has anyone used a polarizer on their M lenses with any success to eliminate reflections, I know it's very simple with an SLR.
