If you are going to shoot 35mm then probably a two lens kit to make your
life easy.  You will need a moderate telephoto for portraits say something
from 75 to 90.  Then a wide angle usually in the 28 to 24 range will let you
get group shots and close in shots.  If you are a nervous and anxious fellow
then use a 50 only so no mistakes changing lenses.  If you have nerves of
steel then a 21, 28, 50, 75-90, and something around 200 for a down the
aisle shot.

Should you go the medium format route then the classic in 6X6 is a 65 and a
120 to 150 telephoto.  Many would recommend a Rollieflex TLR for simplicity,
ease of use, and silence.
