I had a chrome 50 Elmar-M. I sold it recently because it was too heavy.
The times that I used it were pleasant surprises. It had an overall
clarity, that was at once sharp and contrasty, no matter which f stop I
used. It seemed to produce negs with a longer tonal range, without a
loss of paper contrast.
For me, apart from a 35mm 'cron, it's a great walk about lens. But the
next one I acquire will be a black one.
