I'm in my 50s and use the R system sometimes. I do, however find it 
difficult to quickly focus anything wider than a 50mm. But then, I don't 
usually show wides with the R. That's what Ms are made for. I'd have a hard 
time ever giving up my R8, 100 Apo.
