Although I admit my M cameras are predominately B&W, other than shooting "no-light low light" Noctilux colour. And then it's red arrowheads ......... never lost any through this system....... bracketing always saves yer but! ;-) But the red dot's were acceptable, but improved with bracketing. Besides under no-light conditions with the Noctilux I always bracket and would do so with any other meter or camera. But on average, anytime I've shot 100 colour slide film red dots light, I shoot. Is it good luck they work? Is it good management? (not likely, I just do it without thinking and they nearly always work.) ;-) Is it experience? Probably helps in some situations. I suppose one of my failings has always been, I don't read the manuals to find out what the equipment will or wont do, or in many cases how to use it..."correctly!" Therefore I do with it as I expect it to do, if it works I don't ask questions but go shoot lots of film. If it screws-up..... I read the manual.;-) My old Toronto high school motto was, "We learn by doing!" And I've always been a great believer in that system, pretty well learned and done my photography in exactly that manner. Never been big on book learning, my loss in many things. :-( But photography has always been ___doing it,___ taking pictures and enjoying every moment. I suppose that's what leads my amazement at some folks who go through such painstaking efforts finding out how many twinkies a lens will cut in film or the many other "testing things" they do. Yes I understand there's folks who get a charge out of that. Me? Heck I just want to record on film everything I'm motivated by. :-) red dots or no. :-) ted Ted Grant Photography Limited www.islandnet.com/~tedgrant - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
