Dan -

This is the most aggravating thing about digital cameras. Supposedly Leica
has greatly shortened the shutter lag with the Digilux 1. I hope so. This
is what they say:

"On digital cameras, there are delays between the switching-on of the
camera and its readiness to shoot, between the activation of the shutter
release and the actual exposure, and also between the processing and
storage of an image and renewed exposure readiness.

All three of these time components have been optimized on the LEICA DIGILUX
1 and – especially in comparison with other cameras in this price category
– they are particularly short. Not only does this enable you to photograph
spontaneously because the camera exposes immediately and because it is
ready to shoot virtually continuously - you can also make exposure
sequences of approximately 4 exposures per second. "
