The lighting in the room is a mixture of daylight (of varying intensity 
depending on the weather) and fluorescent. 1/2 stop overexposure makes it 
easier for my lab (a pretty good one hour place) to get a proper color 
balance on the skin tones. I don't know why this is so, but that's the way 
it works.
