There is no question that the new lens is much superior at all F stops BUT, will you notice the superiority. If you are into 20x30 enlargements, there is no question; spend the extra money. I personally use the F2.8 ,eyes and all, with an M-6 .58 body, and wide open get more than acceptable 11x14 prints. If you are going to use the lens EVERYDAY all day long, buy the new one. If it will be used occasionally, as most of us use the 135MM focal length, buy the elmarit, save the difference toward your next lens purchase. >-- Original Message -- >Date: Wed, 13 Mar 2002 23:15:22 -0800 >From: Marc Attinasi <marc@attinasi.org> >To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us >Subject: Re: [Leica] 135/3.4 APO Telyt vs 135/2.8 Elmarit >Reply-To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us > > >The APO Teyt is about $1,100 USD, a very nice Elmarit can be found for >$400 USD - I bet the difference corresponds to those values, roughly. > Just my perception of Leica pricing for non-rare items :) > >- marc > >>>I have read Erwin's comments about the virtues of the APO Telyt....
