Picture agencies buying each other up. Media conglomerates buying up the picture agencies. Media conglomerates buying up the music producers. Are you all attending the National Creative Photo Awards? If we would like to explore business models for creative photography, I don't think the music industry fits the bill. Although the stock photo CD business has certainly torn the crap out of my business. The reality of earning a living in photography or music is currently going through very serious transitions. The copyright debates in the music industry, napster, et al - folks are lining up on all sides of the issue. Some musicians want to get out from under the major publishers by making their music available through the web, others want to keep the system as is. It's all up for review and re-modeling. It's a wild time to try and find a gig.
