Actually, most design houses now use PCs. MACs are significantly more expensive than PCs and ALL of the standard design/graphics software is available for Windoze. Not to mention the cost of management of PCs is quite a bit lower than MAC management. Sure, the smaller design houses might use MacOS, mostly because they've been brainwashed.. Don't get me wrong, Apple makes great hardware, but their prices are sill fairly high for the quality of their hardware/os. Im not sure where Stud city is (Though I know where Studio City is) and LA is far from being Technologically advanced. Up here in Sillycon Valley, the large firms used to use SGI boxes for their graphics, IRIX was considered the best for Multiuser Multitasking graphics processing. SGI has taken a dump and people are pretty much using Linux on PCs *Beowolf Clusters* I personally am not a PC or MAC fan, but I don't see why you would want to spend 2 to 3 times as much for essentially the same thing. - -Mark - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] On Behalf Of S Dimitrov Sent: Monday, March 11, 2002 5:42 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Absolutely, totally off-topic Well, why didn't you say so from the beginning. The Mac is in a league of its own when it comes to graphics, i.e. photoshop etc.. I personally don't know of any graphic house, or even an ad agency that uses a PC for graphics. You might be able to find one in their accounting dept. crunching numbers, but not at the art director's or designer's desk. I photographed a director the other day at a studio in Stud City. Went to the editing room, a building really, to get a hold of him. I must of seen over 20 G4s on racks side by side. The hands on people all had Mac laptops in front of them. I did have to drag the director away from his ebay bidding, on a Mac needless to say. Slobodan Dimitrov Simon Lamb wrote: > > Mark > > Thanks to you and others who have responded.
