The period commences on the date of purchase from an authorized

The operative words are "authorized dealer", meaning authorized to sell the
particular Leica gear involved.

If you buy Grey Market gear, you're not buying the gear from the dealer
authorized to sell that gear.

If you buy the Leica gear from a dealer authorized to sell the particular
gear then you can take your Leica gear to any
authorized Leica agency/dealer in the world and get the gear repaired under
warranty.



That's how I interpret the point.
