Leica builds and sells "Systems", not just lens and camera bodies. They are designed to work in unison as a whole. To do otherwise would dismiss all the effort which went into developing the system in the first place. Besides, I really doubt if Nikon users would be willing to pay the higher prices for R lens, or that Leica would be will to use cheaper materials or manufacturing techniques to get the price down.
