'I am interested in getting information about how to get into a grad degree
for photojournalism at MIT. I won't be able to attend for a few years but I
already have a degree in English literature and a masters in environmental
health sciences.'

Alfie,

Do you want to spend the time at university or is your ambition to make your
living as a photojournalist? If it's the latter (and you already seem to
have spent quite a lot of time studying) then you would probably be better
off working for a paper or agency and learning your trade that way. You
might have to work in the library or pic desk for a pittance, if anything,
but there is no better way of learning than working alongside the
professionals and looking at their results.

I spent 4 years doing a photography degree and then worked as a studio
assistant for two. I learnt far more by watching people who shoot for money
every day.

Art college was fun, but you can't beat the real thing.
