Thanks to you and all the others who responded. That's what I suspected. I
can't think why someone would add  cut-out when so little of the viewfinder
is obscured. Guess what I'll be buying today.

The rectangular lens hood that comes with the latest 35mm Summicron,
does it have a piece cut out so that the lens hood doesn't obscure part
of the viewfinder?

The reason for asking the question, I've just bought a used version of
this lens. The cut out looks rather home-made _and_ I've been having
some flare problems when using filters.

The part number on the lens hood is 12526 A42
