APS, was a marketing gambit by Kodak in collaboration with Japanese
manufacturers.
The premise was to make quasi-35mm user friendly so that those who are
intimidated by the loading of standard 35 would buy the new format.

Unfortuantely Kodak & Company had not learned the lesson of Disk film, 110,
and other "bright ideas".

If APS is not yet on its death bed, it is doomed nevertheless. With so many
auto load/unload 35s its days are numbered.
