It uses high-refraction/low-dispersion multicoated glass, but apparently no asperical elements. It is claimed to be well-corrected for distortion, coma, "etc" at both focal lengths, has high resolution, high contrast and "soft, gentle, mild, mellow" (the word used carries all these connotations) bokeh "flavor." NOTE: this is not an invitation to a bokeh flamefest---it is merely a translation of what's written there. The lens will be produced in a limited run of 800pcs, available at the end of March. List price is 198,000 yen (approx US$ 1,500). From the specs: 11 elements in 10 groups, 21mm apertures 3.4-19 and 35 4.0-22. Half-aperture click stops, minimum focus 0.8m, 10 aperture blades, 62mm filter, dimensions 68mm x 57mm, 295g. It uses a clip-on hood. Sounds pretty neat, though I'd get a lot more use from a 35-50. But if the lottery gods blessed me and if it's a decent performer, I'd get one for my bag. Like the 3E, the relatively slow max aperture limits indoor use somewhat to higher ISO film. I wonder when Tom A. will get his mitts on one..... Regards, PB On Tue, 5 Feb 2002 11:43:26 -0500, "B. D. Colen" <bdcolen@earthlink.net> wrote: >So what does it say?
