I dunno - Given the historic nature of that route, it could be pretty
interesting just seeing the countryside up close - as the Freedom Riders saw
it on their ride from Atlanta to the Birmingham bus depot and their place in
history. ;-)

The old route from Atlanta to Birmingham is/was 78.  It's nothing special
now;  it was too close to I-20 so unless you want to explore mobile home
parks, McDonalds, and abandoned gas stations not much to see.
