I'd agree with Paul, if....If you could remove the damn grip from the
motor...You can use a Rapidwinder without a Rapidgrip, but you can't use a
Motor-M without the grip.

PS - And don't forget - the Rapidwinder is no noisier than the normal
shutter advance - the Motor-M does sound like a motorwind, even if a quiet
one. ;-)

You'll find a lot of Rapidwinder lovers on this list. I am not among them.
I vastly prefer the Motor-M, mainly because it interferes with my
concentration less than the RW. The Rapidwinder still needs a manual
action to wind the film. You take the shot, then pull a lever on the
bottom of the camera. The lever drives a belt which rotates a coupling
which winds the film and shutter.

The main advantage of the RW is that you don't need to remove the camera
from your eye to wind, but it's still a separate motion with your left
hand. with practice it can be somewhat faster than winding with the thumb
lever.

The Motor-M is a real motor. All you need to do to wind the film is -
nothing. It's much less intrusive when you ''re following action through
the finder, and you have the advantage of true one-handed operation if you
really need it. I also find it doesn't upset the steadiness of the camera
between shots as much as the RW.

I also prefer the size of the motor's grip, compared to the Rapidgrip. I
had both the motor and the RW/RG at the same time, and used them both
enough to convince myself that while the RW is a wonderful piece of
engineering, for me the motor is more functional.
