the idea of having a separate website with links to people's PAWs, and/or
the ability for people to post their pics and comments is really the best.

it offers the best of both worlds;  people who want to look at PAWs will
have one place to go to do so (without having to keep track of everyone's
differen URLs), the people who don't care to see PAWs, won't be bothered by
the email list filling up with PAW-related posts.

this way people would have a choice. the way it is right now, people who
don't want to see PAW-related stuff do not have a choice. sure filters can
be setup in certain email programs, but why force this complexity upon
those subscribers who don't know much about computers? there are a lot of
digest subscribers (me included) where this wouldn't work anyway.
