Is the LUG being paid for this type of painfully blatant advertising by a dealer? - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Nigel Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2002 8:34 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] Leica R8 vs Nikon D1x Hi guys! Just wanted to pass on my experience from last week. I had a job to shoot at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip last thursday and took a Nikon D1x with a 17-35mm AFS and an SB28D flash, I borrowed the outfit from Nikon (thank you). I also took my Chrome R8 w/Motor Drive, 80mm f/1.4 and 19mm f/2.8. The D1x was great, so fast & acurate and being able to flip back and forth between "shoot" and "playback" just to make sure I had the shot was amazing, I was able to keep or delete as I went along, what a treat! Having said that...every time I picked up the R8 I felt I was using a "real" camera and it really felt so much better! I can see how most of the pros are going with D1's & 1D's just because of speed and convenience, but the Leica R8 is still head and shoulders above all of that with regards to the pure enjoyment of actually taking photographs.
