Mark

I added the technical details purely because a few people said that they'd
like to know more about what was behind the image.

The subjective text I've added is just a bit of whimsy on my part and isn't
intended to be an accurate description of what I think of the photograph.
E.g. in alt3 I could have mentioned that when taking the shot I had tried to
balance the statue's little finger on the left with its penis to the right
of the leg. Of course I made that up. It only occurred to me, as usual, that
it worked that way when I did the scan. I _do_ admit to wanting the member
in the shot when I took it. This was purely because someone last week
mentioned that anything was allowed in PAW provided it was 'decent' :-)

Do I think my photographs would be weaker without the buid up? Not really I
assume that most people will just read the text and then ignore it.

But you do make a valid point, do other people have any thought on what
should be provided and where?

Steve

It's a big caption issue here for me. A big case of captions narrowly
defining images which could've had a broader meaning if they could not
be so easily: written off.

When we click picture we are greeted by information; technical and
subjective.
Then we scroll down and experience the full picture.

I'd show them the pictures first.
Then tell them what to think about it.
Give the pictures a chance to stand by themselves and do their
picture-like thing.

Are the captions and words in there because the photographer fears the
pictures would be weaker without the buildup?
The photographer wants the picture to me to us what it exactly means to him?
In my opinion your pictures would easily stand by themselves - they are
quite strong and effective.
The captions and words above the images weaken them.
