Steve, this is my main problem with autofocus--sure, in some situations it helps
but I spend just as much time on trying to *defeat* the autofocus when using my
Ricoh GR1 or any other AF camera. The other issue I have with the AF compacts is
the long shutter lag--I guess I have been spoiled by my Leica Ms. This is why I
have now settled on the Rollei 35 as my pocket camera--no automation, short
shutter lag (although the release is not as smooth as on a Leica M), if the
picture is out of focus it is MY fault only...
