I haven't used a flash since 1992 (the last time I did a studio portrait). > that the M camera is basically fully evolved. That surely > makes it tough to sell new cameras. There are still a few things I'd like to see in an M, although I stopped holding my breath waiting for them years ago: o A truly silent shutter. Not "whisper quiet" or "silky" but *silent*. You-cannot-hear-it silent. Does-this-thing- work-I-just-pressed-the-button-and-didn't-hear-a-thing silent. o A built-in silent motor winder. Don't need 10 fps, just something *silent* to advance the film after each shot. It can be done as Konica did it with the Hexar over 10 years ago. Just wish someone at Solmns would realise that a truly silent camera would be a huge boon to all the wedding / candid / courtroom / film-set photographers out there. And yes, I have used the Hexar Silver (silent mode modified) for a while. Nice camera, but you are stuck with a fixed 35mm Hexanon lens and the manual focus (via weenie buttons) is a pain. And while we are at it, why not a compact-M variant - say a better-quality remake of the CL(E)?
