Subject: [Leica] M flash

One of the breakthroughs for TTL flash response was incorporating distance
information into the equation. Doesn't the position of the cam follower
provide just that?

Hmmm, you know the distance, you know the shutter speed(from the position
indicator for the light meter), so you can calculate the pulse length and
the power once you calculate the light coming through the lens which can be
figured from a pre-flash just prior to the shutter opening. A key question
for Leica would be the release/shutter release time and whether it has
changed.

As to the fuss over new/old, Leica provides whatever you want. Like M-3's,
there are hundreds for sale at any given time. Want to reach way back,
III's are sort of unpopular right now so several hundred dollars will buy
that. Everyone can have what floats their boat. If an all metal M2 is what
you love then a short visit to one of several repair people will net you a
camera probably better than new. If the latest is what motivates then you
can have that too; and this time Leica gets to stay in business. If they
keep the M6 in the line then whatever we want will sell camera's and lenses.

Come on LUG, what comes out comes out, it's more fun taking and looking at
pictures.
