Robert,

I've never had any problem with my carrier. Granted, I don't have a 
400/2.8, but I do have a rider covering six Leica bodies,  ten Leica 
lenses, and a few various other pieces. When I originally got the rider I 
took a copy of Shutterbug magazine along.
