Some of my earliest B&W work was of boxing matches (ringside seats were $10
at the time) in the San Diego Coliseum. I photographed about 10 of Ken
Norton's earliest fights with a Mamiya 500TL (a year or two before Ken beat
Ali), and I had the problem of having to shoot UPWARD from the canvas level.
Ken was nice enough to knock everyone out, so I did get level shots of an
unconscious opponent (none of whom were famous enough to merit remembering
their name).
