Brad, I am very sorry this happened to you. Austin has a good suggestion as
Alabama is currently viewed by corporations as the plague when it comes to
lawsuits. Try writing a demand letter to Pay-Pal with a thirty day action
period. In the meantime, find a good lawyer: you work in a lab, you should
have a diverse enough clientele to find a good "attack dog". At the very
least you might get a 50% offer and recoup some of your loss.

As a side show, thanks for this on the LUG. Despite your loss, it is very
instructive as the fine print is part of your contract and if followed will
keep you out of trouble. I once recouped many tens of thousands of dollars
from Amex as I shipped to the billing address and demanded a signature on
arrival from an adult. It turned out to be a completely fraudulent
situation but Amex had granted the card and provided an approval code for
each transaction. When it comes to money and finances there are no short
cuts or "special situations" unless you know the person you are dealing with
very well.
