Now Kyle has expressed something similar in his own particular way, but I do not think he is joking. The only way you become a better photographer is by shooting a lot and getting feedback on your work. I have made more progress this year thanks to the PAW project and the resulting comments then in the past 10 years combined. If film cost really is an issue for you, then perhaps selling the Leica and buying something cheaper IS a solution. Or, as others have suggested, do your own B&W.
