Or, hie thee to your local booksellers and grab a book by that Canuck Ted
Grant.  If you like what you see, pay attention to his technique.  Point,
adjust to whatever the meter says, and shoot.  Don't worry about lab
results.  Worry about how your pictures look instead of how a lens performs.

Unless you're shooting newspaper taped to a wall, are you really going to
see much difference between the 3E at 50mm & f/4 vs. the 50 'cron at f/4?
Or even the 50 'lux at f/4?  I suspect even the Noctilux at f/4 is good
enough, as well.
