This new Titanium may turn out to be a sell out because Leica now markets
differently. The previous model was sold as "standard production" and it sat
on dealer's shelves. People don't race to buy when they think it will always
be out there. Now Leica sells cameras in preset limited quanities, here 1000
units, as "special editions." Because they are limited people rush to buy.
Its good for Leica. They can start and finish the production run in one
process and the dealers get product they can move immediately. The real
question going forward for Leica, is how many "flavors" of the same thing can
they move as special editions before they reach a saturation point.
