The previous model was sold as "standard production" and it sat on dealer's shelves. People don't race to buy when they think it will always be out there. Now Leica sells cameras in preset limited quanities, here 1000 units, as "special editions." Because they are limited people rush to buy. Its good for Leica. They can start and finish the production run in one process and the dealers get product they can move immediately.
