Its just a coating, no massive titanium. Apparently bright chrome and
titanium coating cannot be applicated on zinc. Exposed parts of bodies
and lenses are therefore made of brass. Brass parts are heavier and
more costly to make than diecast-zinc parts, particularly in small
production runs. All over its a matter of personal taste and the
willingness to pay a premium for this special taste. Astonishingly, 10
years ago people paid a premium for black Canons and Nikons.

None of the "instant" collectors' items being marketed by Leica during
the past years actually delivered, at least not in terms of value
increase. It is indeed very misleading that Leica is today advertising
with auction prices of black paint MP. Typically, todays' instant
collectors' items spend years on dealers' shelves after they have been
discontinued which however doesn't stop "investors" to advertise them
with rediculous mark-ups. On the contrary,
the dealers are rather offering discount to get rid of dead capital.
