I currently have both new and used Leica [the current 21, plus the old 50, 90, 135 and VIOOH multi] and new Voigtländer [21, 24, 28, 35, 50] viewfinders. I prefer the current Voigtländer offerings compared to current Leica VFs because I find the brightlines easier to see with glasses, as I'm profoundly nearsighted. However, the older Leica metal VFs are very nice and *can* occasionally be found at good prices on eBay, as I discovered with a couple of mine. That said, the Voigtländer VFs are usually much less expensive and can take 2 foot drops onto concrete without damage, which I have learned from experience. Also, I find the build quality of the metal Voigtländer VFs to be equal or better than the Leica equivalent. /Mitch Zeissler - -----Original Message----- From: Jay Burleson [mailto:jayburleson@earthlink.net] Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 6:26 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] 35 Viewfinder Question I am in need of a 35mm viewfinder. I don't need a Leica one, but I would use one if it were demonstrably better. Also, I don't want to wait for months to try and find some oddball brand. So, what can the collective tell me about the good/bad of the Voigtlander finders as compared to the Leica? Items like brightness, build quality, and most importantly, frame line accuracy. I will be using it with a 35 Summicron pre-asph. And if anyone has one lying about, give me a shout. Jay Burleson - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
