Here's what Geoffrey Crawley, Editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Photography, wrote of this design in 1968: "Excellent image quality is provided across the frame at full aperture, with very fine detail crisply rendered. At f/4 microscopic detail covers the frame, with some slight improvement in microcontrast at f/5.6 ……this lens is a highly corrected medium high contrast type capable of superb image quality, and not surpassed in the writer's testing at its specification." It has not become a less-than-superb lens in the last 33 years.
