re: batch processing

wouldn't it be great if someone came up with a scanning system which
would take 7 35mm strips of 6 frames, or 12 frames of 6x6 into
a nominally 8.5 x 11 holder and thereupon perform various
batch scanning processes including contact sheet?

while i like my minolta scanner fine with regard to image quality, it
takes so damn long to get scans (with much operator intervention)
that i could not imagine scanning in an entire roll of 35mm at,
say, 600x400 res per frame as a "digital contact sheet."
