Well, first, I have long subscribed to the belief that the Good Lord allocates each of us a certain number of heartbeats at the hour of our birth and that there is absolutely no good reason to consume these through unnecessary exertion! Second, in really cold weather, you should really have your clothing VERY well layered, in four or five layers. I wasn't suggesting keeping the camera next to your body but inside the outermost layer or two, where it should be isolated from bodily humidity. For regular use in really cold weather, of course, it is certainly best to adopt the Zeiss Ikon method of "kaltfest" -- stripping out almost all the lubricants and being as gentle with the camera as possible.
